Wondering about my son’s chances at SDSU for direct entry nursing program (which I know is quite competitive ).
GPA = 4.18 (using only soph and junior classes - four approved AP courses for extra 8 points in calculation)
SAT = 1150 (taking again and hoping to improve a bit)
I am pretty sure this works out to an EI of 4494 and am wondering if anyone out there knows if this would be a competitive for the nursing program.
An EI of 4500+ has been the unofficial threshold for the last 2 years. Much depends upon the stats/EI of each new in-coming class. Definitely worth an application and make sure he applies widely. Also bumping up his SAT score will help his chances although SDSU only accepts up to the November sitting.
Thanks so much @Gumbymom ! He is taking the test again Nov 4 - fingers crossed! Also, he is taking the ACT - do you have any figures on competitive EI using ACT scores? And is the ACT cutoff November as well? We are signed up for Dec ACT as well, but not sure if this will be too late.
Also - thanks so much for everything you do on these forums! Your comments are always informative and helpful to us in this stressful time
The minimum threshold for the ACT is 1100 but again no guarantees. All tests either SAT or ACT need to be completed by the November sitting for consideration.
