SDSU or Comm College to UCLA for Civil Engineering

After a long process of eliminating universities I was accepted to, I sadly decided UWash for Civil Engineering would be too expensive for an OOS student like me to afford. Now I need some help deciding between two options: Either SDSU (Civil Eng.) or community college and then transfer to UCLA. What is SDSU's engineering program like--is it respected or reputable--and how do the opportunities and education I would receive from the two compare? Would the degree from UCLA look more impressive than one from SDSU?

If you got accepted into SDSU for engineering but is also thinking about going to a CC and then UCLA…why don’t you use SDSU as that CC? It’s actually more impressive and increases your chances at ucla.

go to sdsu, take your GRE and pre major engineering classes. Apply to transfer to ucla and if you get int, awesome, if you dont then hey you are still at sdsu and can finish up there. sdsu has a really good engineering program.

I thought about that, but according to [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org), SDSU doesn’t have an agreement with UCLA and I’m worried that the credits wouldn’t transfer. Besides, wouldn’t going to a school with my only goal being to transfer out after 2 years be a waste?

Assist.org isnt going to show that type of stuff. Your GED will transfer over, theres no doubt about that. Your major prep classes may or may not, but that doesnt matter since you are better off taking those at ucla. What I am saying is to take your GED at sdsu and then when you finish, apply to transfer to ucla. if you dont get accepted then you dont have to worry about trying to get into another school, you just start your major classes at sdsu.

Just start at SDSU and decide later if you want to try to transfer to UCLA; you may see no advantage in transferring.
