SDSU Question. Commuter school? Please help?

I heard that SDSU is a commuter campus. Do you still get that college feel, like is the campus kinda empty? Also, are the parties on campus or off campus? Thanks!!(:

Whoever told you sdsu is a commuter campus has no idea what they are talking about. where did you hear that from?

If sdsu is a commuter campus, then every csu or even every college in the country is a commuter campus for that matter.

You get an amazing college feel on campus. It is an amazing environment and gorgeous campus. They are also renovating it, so it’s going to be even more amazing in a year or two.

wayyyyy back in the day it may have got that commuter vibe because once people moved out of the dorms after their freshman year, they got a place over in pb or mission valley. But now most people stay right on campus or within a few blocks of it.

There are now about 10-12 apartments that are right on campus. They are considered “off campus” because they aren’t ran by sdsu nor part of the freshman/transfer dorms. But they are closer to campus that the dorms. Thats where most of the people go when they move out of the dorms. There are also another 10+ apartments within a block or two from campus.

The people who call it a commuter school are the ones who commute themselves. They are the ones who still live with mom and dad and dont want to go and experience colllege by living near campus, or they just cant afford it. Either way, every school has those types of students. But that is a very small percentage for sdsu.

It is not a commuter school by any stretches of imagination. The campus is always alive and most students live right next to campus.

I have heard that from some people and I went online to check if it’s true, and collegeboard.com states that it’s primarily a commuter campus. Thanks so much for your input, SDSUAlumn!(: Does anyone know anything about the parties? Are they on campus or off campus?

Well not to be mean or anything, but they are wrong. The ones that are calling it a commuter school are prob the ones who either never went to that school or they are commuters themselves, so they don’t really get to see what the campus is actually like.

Most people live on are right next to campus. So, it has a great atmosphere and isn’t a commuter school.

Every single school in this country has its commuters. Doesn’t mean it’s a commuter school. Majority of the students at sdsu live on or next to campus.

What makes a school a commuter school is when new students dont even stay in the dorms. When the weekend comes, campus is dead and the dorms are a ghost town. And the upper classman live miles away from campus and drive to class. Thats a commuter school.

At sdsu, the dorms are always alive. pretty much all of the freshman that attend sdsu, live in the dorms their freshman year. After that, they move into the houses and apartments right next to campus.

There are parties on campus. There aren’t much at the dorms since its highly regulated. But on the west side of campus where all the apartments and off campus housing are, there are tons of apartment and house parties. Frat row is right there too. But there are plenty of non frat parties at the houses and apartments right on and off campus.
