If I have an eligibility index of 4,420 and I applied for nursing, will I for sure get denied? I’ve been reading on a couple of these threads that SDSU doesn’t take alternative majors into consideration? I really wanted to attend this college, but I know nursing is very competitive. Would it have been more realistic if I applied for biology? Also, what are my chances of getting into CSUSM?
You will be ranked by your EI for any major at SDSU and Nursing is highly competitive. The target EI for Nursing has been around a 4500+ so I would say it will be a tough admit. SDSU does not take alternate majors into consideration and it is too late to change majors at this point.
You would have had a better chance as a Biology major applicant but if Nursing is your goal then attending SDSU as a Biology would have required a Post-Bacc Nursing program admission. SDSU does accept internal transfers into their Nursing program so you would either have to finish your 4 year degree then apply for a Nursing program or transfer after 2 years to another Nursing program.
For CSUSM, you seem like a competitive applicant for their “pre-nursing” program, but there is no guarantee of admission into their Nursing program.
Did you apply to other schools with a direct admit Nursing program or a 2+2 program?
