SDSU Rivalry?

From urbandictionary.com

"11. UCSD 56 up, 47 down
One of the schools in the University of California system. Occupied mainly by Asians, Ugly Girls, and all around Nerds. It has an ugly campus located in La Jolla where there is basically nothing to do past dark. UCSD is currently attempting to eliminate every program that is not strictly academic. On the bright side, academically UCSD exceeds all other colleges in San Diego. But if you're looking to have fun and get an education in San Diego, SDSU is the better choice.
Tina: Hey, did you get accepted into UCSD?
Cindy: Yeah, but I'm going to State instead.

Imagining the above scenario, I was literally falling out of my seat laughing. I can't imagine picking san diego state over UCSD (not that I applied to san diego state). Do you know anyone who has chosen SDSU over UCSD?

apparently cindy has chosen SDSU over UCSD :D

Nope. There really isnt much of an argument for SDSU over UCSD. Academics? UCSD. Environment/Location/Weather? The same lol. And if you put enough emphasis on partying and pretty girls that you’d pick SDSU, then you wouldnt really belong at UCSD anyway. So it all works out :)

Poor confused Cindy.

They don’t call her easy Cindy for nothing.

Cindy wanted hot boys and STDs.

Who could blame her?

Haha.

It actually isn’t that uncommon for someone to choose SDSU over UCSD; for one it depends on the major he/she is pursuing. I know a number of people transfer from UCSD to SDSU to major in English/Communications, among other things, because it is well known for having a strong program. SDSU is pretty well rounded and has excellent study abroad programs too. It also has Division I athletics, so this is another reason why people may choose SDSU over UCSD.

But as the saying goes: UCSD by day, SDSU by night.
(Get your education at UCSD, party it up at SDSU.)

;D

I can see why some determined to do Business as an undergraduate major might choose SDSU. Otherwise, they are in very different leagues. UCSD is ranked among the top universities in the world.

What’s wrong with SDSU? Regardless of whether a school is a “party” or “elite” school the college experience is really up to the individual, not the rankings or stereotypes. If you’re a slut but still want to go to a school with a good bio program he/she can find that at UCSD and get laid. If you’re not a slut but still want to enter a good nursing program then SDSU is a better choice. If you want to party it up more then why not choose SDSU? It’s not like you can’t find a good academic experience if that is what you desire. You choose a school based on what you look for, not what everybody else thinks.

I was accepted to both, and was originally going to choose SDSU over UCSD. The reasons were it’s cheaper, it’s not as difficult academically, my dad went there, and I’m an Aztec football fan (I went to my first SDSU football game when I was like 6 months old,). I was really set on going there, but after talking with family I decided that a UCSD education was simply to good to pass up, even with the extra difficulty and cost. UCSD seems more focused on academics then SDSU and that’s what I want. Plus SDSU’s slogan didn’t sell me “Come for the cocaine, stay for the chlamydia” :)
