Hi I am new to the board and am just trying to get a better grasp on how rough it is transferring from the CSU system (specifically SDSU) to the top UCs (Cal, UCLA, UCSD) as well as the middle tier UCs (UCSB, UCI, UCD).

if things continue as they are, I will have ~3.8 cumGPA and ~3.7 prereq GPA (applying as math).

For ECs I have some quality research, volunteering, and leadership experience and am confident that I could muster together a solid essay (with some help of course! )

I'll be senior standing by the time I apply which I hear doesn't help (wouldn't be able to transfer to a CC and utilize TAG, i hear they don't like seniors as much, etc).

For someone in my position, is it pretty much just a total crap shoot considering CC students and UC students get priority? will I have to roll the dice and hope for some serious luck? OR if my GPA is maintained will I have a pretty good shot?

I'm totally willing to enroll in a CC for the next two semesters to finish the prereqs, but from what I understand since the majority of my units are from a CSU they will count me as a CSU student.

Thanks for any input on this, I sincerely appreciate it.

EDIT: tl;dr - I am aware CSU --> UC is hard, just how hard is it?
