SDSU Transfer Decisions Thread 2016

Same! I just want to know already. Are you local?

I’m not local. I’m in LA county

Admitted! Criminal Justice 3.8 w/ an ADT and local :}

Admitted 7 hours ago! Got the email!!!
Major: Psych GPA. 3.66 Prereqs and Golden four all done by fall 2015
ADT: Yes Location: San Diego

Question: On my application it asks what classes you were going to take this spring. I put down I was going to take
adju 101, adju 161, art 107, and an elective psychology class.

Well, change of plans. I could not get art 107 and opted for 109, added another adju course (162), and took marketing 100 instead of the psychology class because it was not offered at my school any more. I’m scared to click the intent to enroll because I don’t want there to be any discrepancies. Has anyone had this issue before/ know anyone that’s done this? Planning to call, but wanted to hear experiences from you guys first.

Anyone know what the “ADVANCED PLACEMENT” requirement is for college transcripts? I took an AP test in May 2013 but I didn’t pass, so I’m not sure why it would ask for it?

Also, what is the difference between the Initial and Final college transcripts?

Congrats to everyone who has been admitted! I still don’t understand why I was denied admission, I have a 3.46 gpa, with all prereqs completed  I suppose it’s back to the waiting game, I sent in my appeal last week. Anyone else appeal?

I’m from Santa Barbara @KK456

@simplydiana from my understanding, you shouldn’t worry about a discrepancy in classes as long it doesn’t affect you in terms of compete ting your associates / adt in addition to completing the required 60 units. I have a similar situation and my counselor and SDSU assured me that it shouldn’t be a problem. However, they said they would get back to me once final transcript were sent out if it was a problem.

@bonjouruc2016 I sent my appeal a couple weeks ago and received an email on Monday informing me that they’ve received all of my forms and that it’s currently under review. I was pretty surprised with my denial as well. I have a 3.73 GPA and was only missing one major prep course which my school doesn’t offer. I also heard of a few people getting accepted with lower GPAs in my major (kinesiology), so it really doesn’t make much sense. I’m guessing they were within SDSU’s local area. It’s a pretty crappy system if you ask me…

If you’re a transfer not from San Diego it’s gonna be hard for you to get in. Im a business major and I just got in with a 3.2. I had all my classes done plus an AA-T too.

@sdsuaztecs It truly is a crappy system. I don’t think it’s fair to take in low gpas just because they go to a school near by. I live only 20 mins from SDSU, and went to a school that is apparently in CSUSM’s “district,” however, CSUSM doesn’t offer my major (religious studies). Anyway, good luck with your appeal, fingers crossed for us

Still pending :frowning: Congrats to everyone who got in so far though! especially the non local ADT applicants

@JGD initial transcripts include Fall 2015, and final transcripts include Spring 2016. I think the initial is to verify that you told the truth on your application, and final makes sure you maintained your GPA and met requirements for admission.

Does anyone know the link to the page where SDSU shows how many people were admitted by major?

@mechhcem: Here is the link for last year: https://asir.sdsu.edu/Pages/applications-by-major.aspx

Thank you! @Gumbymom

Quick question, I recently received my financial aid award letter for SDSU, however, I am just somewhat confused about if or when I will be receiving a Cal Grant B. I only saw a Federal Pell Grant and State University Grant as far as grants are concerned, but no Cal Grant B. I was wondering for those who are familiar with this process, are cal grant renewal applicants initially awards a SUG and then the cal grant? Is that typical for this time of year? Or does this mean that I won’t be awarded a cal grant B for the 2016-2017 academic year?
