@votvureiv I’m psych and got Denied today too, 3.69 GPA with adt, from Bay Area, I was expecting it since they already told me they didn’t accept any non local psych adt transfers last year and would most likely not this year either since there’s no space, just bums me out that locals get TAG with the minimum GPA , idk if an appeal would do anything at this point
Denied
Major: Psychology
Golden 4: Completed
G.P.A.: 3.56
AA-T: Yes, Spring 2016
Area: LA/OC
Accepted to: CSUF, CSULA, SFSU, UCR, UCSB, and MSMU
I called the admissions office to see which CSUs they would be forwarding our applications too and they said Dominguez Hills & Channel Islands. I also asked why I got denied and the person I spoke to said because I was a non-local applicant and applied to an impacted major. He also kept saying that SDSU considers their local applicants first and then looks at the available spaces.
@KK456 I should’ve asked if they were considering locals more than non, this could’ve given me a great perspective after I applied in late October. I barely found out about this forum but getting great advice about which schools to pick from here. I’d like to say it’s not fair that their system is like this but I can understand why they’d like locals and the number of applications per year.
@psyphil12 I’ve been accepted to CSUCI, it’s a beautiful campus and tend to keep their classes below 25 students. It’s fairly ‘‘new’’ since the campus used to be a mental institution. I’ve met some of the students and they like to joke around that their campus is haunted. It’s in the middle of nowhere but pretty safe. Surrounding hills are usually used to hike around to to do research. It’s very commuter-like, people tend to keep to themselves.
I’ve visited dominguez and don’t recommend going there. Very unsafe neighborhoods. Unsanitary workstations and bathrooms. They made me pay $150 for a ‘‘preview day’’. Sdsu’s preview day was free and included a lot of events (info, tours, fairs) and CSULA offered a free tshirt (also free to attend).
@votvureiv I’m gonna stay at community another year and attend part time, then apply to Davis with TAG this fall and hopefully get accepted there for psych
Hey guys, I got denied. I was wondering if anyone that got rejected can appeal? I was looking at the appeal process and it says you have to have like a family crisis or hospitalization in order to appeal. Congrats to all those who got in!
Major: History
GPA:3.86
AA-T/AS-T?: No
Pre-reqs: Yes (completed 2 more history classes than I needed to)
Golden 4: Yes
SD Area?: Yes
Other Schools applied to: UCSB (accepted), UCSD (pending), UC Berkeley (pending), UCI (pending)
Well I got rejected and I’m from the local area, but I didn’t check off ADT on the application but after checking with a counselor past the application due date I do qualify to receive one (should have met with a counselor earlier LOL). Also, I applied as a CCC transfer that was previously at a UC and left for personal reasons. Seems like they’re really sticklers for getting that transfer degree. Oh well, I was leaning more towards UCSD anyways
About the redirect, I just contacted CSUCI and CSUDH and learned that our applications are already forwarded to the universities and that we should be receiving information about registering for a portal in a couple of weeks (at least that’s what CSUCI says; DH has yet to get back to me). However, I’m still in the dark about how financial aid is going to work. The CalGrant deadline has already passed and I did my FAFSA in February without including DH or CI. Does anyone else have any news about this? :-w
