SDSU Transfer Decisions Thread 2016

Denied.

Local Student
Major: Computer Science
GPA: 3.91

Denied:(

3.87 GPA…Sociology major

Not local

Have any computer science majors gotten in? I as well as another friend of mine are both local and got denied.

@compscisdsu12 go to page 39! There are a couple on there

Denied :’(

Major: History
AA-T: Yes
GPA: 3.49
NOT LOCAL (from Irvine Valley College, Orange County)
Major Prep: Yes
Golden 4: Yes (2 A’s, 1 B, 1 C)

Other Schools: CSULB (Accepted), CSUF (Accepted), CSULA (Accepted), CSUSM (Accepted), UCSB (Accepted), UCI (Pending), UCLA (Pending), UCSD (Pending), SDSU (Denied).

I knew I had a slim to no chance of getting accepted given that I was not local. About the appeal process, I had no sort of extenuating circumstance. Is there any chance I can still attend SDSU for Fall 2016? This is my dream school and I won’t give up on trying even if it means attending a CC (Community College) in San Diego and applying for Fall '17. Talking about CC’s, will I be admitted if I do attend a CC in San Diego and then transfer to SDSU? Will I have to complete a new and different AA-T degree different from my AA-T degree I have in History? Please any help will be greatly appreciated.

PS Congrats for those who got admitted, especially out of local admits.

@cbv159 do you mind me asking what college you went to?! I went to Mesa and have everything completed with a 2.94 majoring in computer science and got denied. I go to Mesa

@Ethnomedicine I’m originally from Los Angeles and moved to San Diego to attend CC here, in hopes of having a better chance at SDSU. However, in order to have guaranteed admission you must apparently complete all of your credits at the local CC and receive an AAT from that school. I completed 80% of my units locally and am getting my AAT at the end of this spring, I was denied. Sorry to hear you were also denied :frowning: I wish you luck!

Denied

Major: Business Adm/General Business
Big 4: 3 A’s, 1 B
GPA: 3.47
AA-T: No
Area: Bay Area/SFSU
Accepted to: CSULB and CPP

Also was denied last year with about same stats. Choose to attend SFSU, but had to move back to Southern CA. Will be attending CSULB in fall.

Wait listed: major computer science, GPA: 3.74, prereqs: everything listed on assist (math 119, 150, 151, 254, 245, Computer science 107, 108, 237, and Physics 195 & 195l, Physics 196 & 196l). I’m also certified for igetc, and my golden 4s were all A’s. Local area: yes and no, most coursework was competed at mesa college, with the exceptions of cs108 and cs237. I’m bummed about this as sdsu was my top pick. I guess I’ll either go to National University or UCSD.

So i got denied… how is the appeal works? how is the appeal process?? it says you have to have like a family crisis or hospitalization in order to appeal???

@edgar1987 No you don’t. Those are just examples.

@100789 Call CSUCI office and tell them about your fafsa situation. I’m already accepted into their system, they gave me the green light to just accept admission or not. I’m happy I included them in my fafsa early in March. I bet they will suggest you update your fafsa to include CSUCI but that is onlyif you decide to attend CSUCI. Also, if you dont qualify or miss your chance for a cal b grant, you can still get a state university grant (sug i believe its called) in my CSUCI account it says pell grant and state grant, along with a few loans I can choose to accept. Still haven’t decided if this is the school for me. I have others yet to see.

In my other post, I have friends that had professors that previously taught at CI and rave about how beautiful the campus is. Very commuter like still unfortunately, mostly quiet campus, but its a fairly new school. Not much goes around and the mascot is a Dolphin. If you’re truly considering CI then plan ahead and visit the campus on any given day but there’s a special ‘‘preview day’’ for transfer students on April 29th but I do not recommend it because May 1st is the enrollment deposit.

good luck!

I live about 10-15 minutes away from CSUCI and although it is a nice campus there is literally no social life…the surrounding area is all fields, the beach is about a 15 minute drive but that is about it. The surrounding neighborhoods are usually quiet and are more family towns. If you’re looking to have fun you have to drive about 30-40 minutes to LA.

CSUCI is also built over a former mental institution, and reports have been made about the campus being haunted (just do a Google search, they try to downplay the fact that they built the school over a building with some “history”).

The song “Hotel California” is based off of the mental institution that is currently CSUCI and yes it is very much haunted.

@mechhcem Here is the breakdown of applicants, accepted and enrolled by major. https://asir.sdsu.edu/Pages/applications-by-major.aspx

@bonjouruc2016 I’m sorry to hear your denial to SDSU? I feel your pain. I really do, especially knowing that you moved up from LA to SD County to have a better chance at getting in. About the CC credits, you said ALL? I have 72.5 credits from Orange County so is there any hope I can still attend? What was situation and why were you denied? I’d think you’d get accepted without a doubt. I’d say appeal bonjouruc2016. That is what I am going to do. I need to attend SDSU.

@Ethnomedicine Thanks, and I’m sorry for you too, I think appeal is our best bet.

Well, the only way to get a TAG (transfer admission guarantee) with SDSU is by completing 100% of your transferable credits at one of the CC’s in their local area… you can read here https://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/admissions/pdf/TAG_2015.pdf

Unfortunately, since I had some credits at Orange Coast and LBCC that were transferable, I was not eligible for a guarantee into SDSU, despite completing pre req’s and completing an AA for transfer. I wish I had applied to a less impacted major, like French, although I’m not certain even that would have helped. I sent my appeal about a week ago, fingers crossed!

Any girls that need roomates??

@beewhy did you get in??
