SDSU Transfer Student Housing

My daughter has been accepted to SDSU and the one thing holding her back from accepting are the apartments they have for transfer students. Albert's College Apartments are a bunch of apartments that are not just student housing. (The general public can live there) The other is Villa Alvarado, which looked great, but not really a part of campus (20 minute walk through a parking structure). Safety is a concern with both. They are both considered on campus housing. Any feedback is appreciated. She wants to live on campus, and the housing dept. said only freshman can live in the CUIC dorms, and the Granada on Hardy, & Piedra Del Sol (which she liked).

Hi, I’m in the same situation. Transferring this fall and not sure what housing to choose. I really wanted Pedra Del Sol, which on the website said was for transfers just a few weeks ago, but isn’t in option to choose from now for 2014-2015 so I guess they changed it. I’ll most likely be choosing Villa Alvarado because Albert’s College looks pretty ghetto in my opinion…looks like an old motel

Albert’s Apartments look scary. They are all old motels and the reviews are terrible on yelp. Roaches, water being turned off for hours at a time? I don’t know if the reviews are correct, so someone at SDSU, please help!
Piedra Del Sol is being held for the freshman class, because they have so many incoming freshman. I guess another option is to find roommates & get an apartment on Hardy, but it wouldn’t be through the school and sounds like a pain. Anyone living in Albert’s that likes it?

I agree with you! I would hate to live there. It’s really so bad that it’s effecting my decision. I’m hoping to get accepted at Cal Poly Pomona, they have much nicer apartments. If I choose sdsu I’m going with Villa Alvarado, but even those look like hotel rooms ugh. The way I look at it is, it will only be for the first year and then I plan on getting a place with friends I make throughout the year.

My daughter may be leaning toward UCSD for the same reason. She would have a lot of fun at SDSU, but she thinks she would feel safer at UCSD. We drove by the transfer apartments at Albert’s College Apts.at SDSU in the daytime & at night. During the day, it was quiet, and less creepy. But at night? With as much that goes on at night at that college, she needs to feel safe walking back to her apartment. The public transportation is amazing at this campus. You can get anywhere in SD on the trolley, and there is great off campus housing if you don’t mind taking public transportation to school. She wants to be on campus to meet people, though. I wish some SDSU students would give us guidance.
