Hi I have been accepted into both of these universities for mechanical engineering, although I am not sure about deciding between the two. I do not plan to do graduate school, so which of the two would offer a better program for mechanical engineering?
Both are ABET accredited so their course curriculum’s would be similar. Below are links to the 4 year plans for ME at each school. Compare and see which program may best fit your needs. Also look at finances and social scene for both schools since you will spending 4 years at the campus. Also consider where you would like to work post graduation.

For both schools, you might want to look into opportunities for summer internships and jobs offers after graduation. Internships and work experience are very important in the engineering field. Also you want to look into which firms and how firms recruit at UCR vs. SDSU for MEng jobs. Talk to alumni and mechanical engineers who are working.
Are you going to Explore SDSU this weekend? If so, many/most of your questions can be answered there. My kids were really impressed with the engineering students, their plans, the research, and the various programs when they talked to the students and faculty at Explore SDSU.
Congrats!
they are both very good. You will almost certainly have more fun at SDSU… so, that’s where i’d go.
Yes, both are good schools.
As for 2019 US News Rankings…SDSU Engineering is #140, UC Riverside (Bourns) is #75.
Although, I attended UC Riverside a long time ago (no student rec center/university village yet, and the school has grown five fold since then), we still had plenty of fun at UCR…you will too!!
Best to take a tour of each and see where the best fit is!
