I’m trying to remember if you mentioned that there is.

If so, could you tell everyone what it is, how to find it, and anything else relevant?

Thanks! :)

I’m not Sea Tide, but the facebook thing was found in our “University of alabama 2013” group discussion page. Someone had set up a topic with a survey that people could fill out. If there’s a 2014 group. I’m sure there is one.

There is a roommate finder on the “University of Alabama Class of 2014” facebook group under the discussions tab. At this point in time, there are not a lot of people in honors looking for roommates, but that will change. There may also be additional threads for honors roommates, male roommates, etc. Do a facebook search for Alabama 2014 and it’s the largest group. The profile picture for the group is currently the UA logo with the script A in the center.

and apparently there’s another site going live on January 15th that will act as a roommate finder. There is an Alabama Class of 2014 group on Facebook. They currently have a number of threads including find a roommate, capstone scholars day, honors, etc. I can confirm that there are only a handful of honors housing folks on there right now. I’d say over 90% of the girls on there want to live in Tutwiller and pledge. And there’s hardly any guys at all.

that’s understandable…many students are still deciding where they will be going to college. That will change once decisions are made. :)

Correct, UA has their own roommate finder, however, many people post on both and just check facebook more often. There’s nothing preventing your S or D from joining the facebook group and starting a new discussion thread. If they do start a new thread, have it be a questionnaire one that many people can use. There is also no problem with friending people you don’t know yet. I’ve met a lot of people that way.

Sea Tide: to clarify…there is UA’s official roommate finder, there is the thread on the UA Class of 2014 Facebook page for roommates, and according to posts on the facebook thread, there will be a new roommate finder site going live on January 15th that is independent of UA, but that works by matching you after you but your info in, rather than having to read through the threads on FB.

I just read the wall post for the “new roommate finder”, it’ll be interesting how many people use it and how the company that ones the website will be making money. On a related note, “housing” will send you offers to buy dorm stuff and send care packages. CC has a lot of threads on it, but UA says the exact bed sizes on their website (usually twin xl).
