I am looking for a safety school that has decent-good academics, however my stats are below mediocre. Any suggestions? State of MI public system.

Your SAT scores and ACT show that you’re a very smart person but your GPA is going to make finding a “safety” school difficult in my opinion. Are you trying to stay IS? It may be easier to get in these schools anyways, as schools usually accept more in state applications.

Here’s a list of ranking in MI: [Top Colleges and Universities in Michigan | University Web Rankings](http://www.4icu.org/us/Michigan.htm) I suggest going down the list and searching for their average GPA (remember - they include the higher applicants that apply, so while it may say it accepts a higher average, you still have a chance). It may not be exactly what you’re looking for… But it’s a start :)

(arrgg it keeps blocking it! remove spaces of course)
Also, websites like collegep r o wl e r and s tudentsreview (just add a .com at the end, other wise it blocks it) is a great way to find out more about colleges and how hard it is to get in or even the average college experience that you will find there.

Talk to your guidance counselor about this. He/she has helped other students like you find good places to study. But, frankly, you need to figure out why you have a 2.6. Just exactly what do you propose to do in college so that you produce the work that your ACT score would indicate you are capable of? What are you going to change about your study habits?

Well…since your GPA will likely keep you from getting scholarships that your test scores would likely get you…

how much can your parents pay each year for your education? If they can’t pay much, that will severely limit your choices. If you don’t know how much they will pay, you need to ask them.

Is that your weighted GPA that includes all your classes?

Thats my unweighted and weighted gpa… and i’m in a two person household with an income of about 80k/year and I have been told that I can go to most schools. We also have about 70k saved up for college if that helps any.

And i already have been slowly making a change as I had been getting 2’s soph/fresh year and got a 3.8 this semester and am on the road to another 3.8. It was just i didn’t feel the need to do homework that killed my grades.

that’s a nice amount, but privates are costing $50k per year… So, one year would take most of the money. Your parent probably didn’t realize the cost when he/she said that you could go to most schools. And, many out of state publics cost between $30k - 45k per year.

What do you think your GPA will be at the end of the year? You might get it high enough to get some merit money at some places to supplement the saved money.
