I’m getting what looks to me like “last 24 hours” results.
@CCadmin_Sorin I just emailed you a weird screenshot…what I got when I did a search.
And agree with others…even when you change the advance search to 1 year from today…you get only…yesterday.
And oddly…yesterday it was working.
@CCadmin_Sorin OK, it seems to be working now.
Thanks for confirming, @skieurope! I got confirmation that there was a fix in place. Glad it’s working.
@CCadmin_Sorin did you get the screen shot I sent you. With the pop up that says “this form is not secure, are you sure you want to submit it?”.
I just got it again…one minute ago when I tried to do a search.
What does this mean…
Search within a thread is also funky. I put in a word that I know is on a page, I see it, and sometimes get ‘not found.’ Iuse th magnifying glass icon in the page number line.
Eg, I just searched on “minute,” which appears in the post above this. No results found.
Where this matters most to me is long threads. Someone quotes something, maybe just one phrase, and I want to see the original context.
I am (sort of) happy to find this thread- Search has been driving me nuts for about 10 days now. It seems to mostly work, if I put in the search term, then choose Forums, then sort by date (though the date doesn’t always show, which is unhelpful). Sorting by ‘relevance’ has been deeply useless so far.
My guess is that Search was re-configured to be able to put ads in…
Ok…it’s not working at all…again. I just typed in the screenname of a good friend who I know has posted. The search function didn’t work at all. I was using advanced search, and put in the third name…and just got the advance search screen…with all blanks…again.
And I’m still getting the message “this form is not secure. Are you sure you want to submit it”
@collegemom3717, for searching the forums you need to select the Advanced Forum Search option. To my knowledge, here you don’t have the possibility to sort by date. Can you please take a screenshot of where you see that and send it to admin@collegeconfidential.com?
As an FYI, we are working on fixing the dropdown, so that one is able to search the forum directly from there.
@thumper1, I replicated this on my laptop and all works fine. However, you are not the first to mention this issue, so there’s definitely something funky going on there. Can you please take a screenshot with the data you put into the advanced search option and the error message you get when hitting search? Please send that over to admin@collegeconfidential.com. Thanks!
Not sure if this is relevant so maybe as an aside, when you search by username, make sure to select the username from the list that pops up (the same as with tagging). Just spelling out the username won’t get you any results.
Sometimes it takes a while (second or third try) for the username selection list to populate.
When I do a search by author, and I start typing the user name, I do not get a drop down with choices of options…at all.
I just sent a screen shot to admin@collegeconfidential.com of the “error” message.
Yes, this seems to be a bug. It eventually starts working after one or more retries.
Mine is still wonky. Can’t put in a word to search. Must put in a poster and use advanced search. This is not user friendly.
@jym626, currently you cannot search the forums from the search bar (by selecting it from the dropdown). You need to use the Advanced Search Forum option. The tech team is working on a fix. I’ll update you as soon as it’s done. Thanks!
Other than Author sometimes (when first calling it up?) being slow to populate, I use advanced regularly with no apparent problems.
Search is working OK for me now, but I did notice that indexing is no longer immediate. Is it a once-a-day type thing now?
@CCadmin_Sorin It seems the search function is acting weird again. I’m only getting results from today.
And I didn’t get results from posts written today.
@skieurope, I was able to replicate this and created an internal ticket.
An an FYI, we have fixed one of the issue and one is now able to search the forum directly by selecting “Search Forums” in the dropdown menu.
