Searching for a good Pre-med school

Hey everyone, I've been searching for good places to do pre-med at and I really need help choosing a school to apply to.
I was born in the U.S but I went to college in Korea early so I'm 18 now with 37 credits ( GPA 3.85 ) . I also recently took the SAT -1930 hoping it would allow me to apply to schools with better pre-med programs. Other than the SAT I havent really taken any other tests.

My aunt lives in Long island so I was hoping to go to a school close to her home....I applied to Adelphi Univ and was accepted for 2014 Fall with $11,000 scholarship but I still havent made up my mind .....because I wasnt sure if Adelphi would be a good place for pre-med.

I am determined to go to medical school and that's why I really want to transfer to a school that can offer me a lot in terms of preparation for MCAT,medschool and advising + a strong science field.

I was thinking about SUNY-stonybrook but I wasnt sure if my scores were good enough ..

Which schools are good for pre-med students and have a manageable tuition??????

I would really appreciate any advice right now because I have absolutely no one to discuss this with .

Virtually any good school is fine for premed. Premed isnt anything special or different. it is not a program. They are just regular classes that other STEM kids take. go where you can afford.

what is your budget?

I was thinking under 15,000 per semester but my parents are hoping I apply for financial aids or grants. I honestly am not familiar with the american financial aid system but i’m willing to learn and make the most of what I can receive.
Also are there schools that are better if i’m going to apply for financial aid?

That amount would cover any SUNY. For FA you will probably be limited to a Direct Loan: $6500 as a Sophomore, $7500 each for Jr and Sr years.

Do I have a chance on getting into SUNYs ?? If I do, which SUNY would be okay with my SAT 1930 and also have the best pre-med track compared to other SUNYs?

Two I just took a stab at - Albany and Buffalo - look likely for admission. I’m sure both of them would be able to prepare you for pre-med.

If I apply to SUNY Albany or Buffalo I would apply for the Spring 2015 but do you think that’s worth giving up Adelphi for this Fall semester ? Its just I have no clue on which school is better for me.

I doubt Adelphi is better than a SUNY, and you will get in to a SUNY somewhere. Try for Stony Brook as well. Can you stay with your aunt if you go to Stony Brook?

I guess it would take me about 40~50 minutes by car from my aunt`s place to stony brook campus.

It appears that the cost would be similar (Adelphi with the scholarship, Stony Brook without). If you want to stay with your aunt and commute, Adelphi might be the better choice if it’s closer to your aunt’s home. A 40-50 minute one-way commute seems time-consuming and expensive (gas/other car expenses or train fare if applicable).

Adelphi takes about 30 mins as well…and the scholarship is just given once i think …wouldnt that make stony brook more cheap. But I still dont know if I should put off Adelphi and apply to Sunys for 2015 spring. …Is it okay to defer my acceptance and try applying to other schools?
