Searching for Acting Schools with English

Hi! I'm a senior and high school and I'm in the midst of my college app process. I'm looking to study acting with a minor in screenwriting or english. I'm leaning more toward film acting, but since there are so few schools that offer it, I am really open to anything. I am looking for BA programs because of the fact that I want to minor, but if you know of any schools that allow you to minor with a BFA please share!
So far my list of schools include:
Emerson
Muhlenberg
Fordham
BU

I was debating SUNY Purchase, but the it is so cut throat to get in and I don't believe they have a BA. I also was think Tisch as my reach school.
Here is of list of schools I still need to research a little more
Northwestern
Wesleyen University
Elon
Wheaton College
Vassar

I also am in desperate need for safety school in which It would be easy to get accepted to, the price is decent, and close to home (I live in CT)

Please Please Please help me in anyway possible. Whether it be giving me info on schools I have listed here, or other schools you think might fit my criteria, any help would be useful at this point! Thanks!!

P.S. I am looking for schools with REPUTABLE programs, not schools that just offer it.

What do you mean by this?

What can your family afford?

Have you checked the theater and musical theater sections on this site?

You may have trouble double majoring in theater and something else. Theater tends to have some time-consuming requirements, like tech work and rehearsals.

Look at Drexel, Temple, Villanova, and UArts? (I don’t know about these.) Also see whether nonmajors can audition for performance roles.

For film/tv acting, also look at schools run by various theaters. The Walnut in Philadelphia has a class.

If price is an issue, I’d definitely pursue SUNY-Purchase. Other schools that might fit your criteria (although they are as expensive as others on your list) include Bard and Skidmore.

Are you confining your search to the northeastern US? If not, have you checked out Chapman University in southern CA? Excellent theater program, and it is consistently ranked as one of the best film/screenwriting schools in the country. They are very generous with merit $$ to students with the grades.

Thanks for the input. And what I mean by decent price is something maybe $40,000 or less per year. I am trying to stay in the northeast

SUNY Purchase has a Theatre and Performance BA Program, and I’m sure admission to it is far less competitive than admission to the Acting BFA program. But I suspect that as in many schools, the non-BFA students can be second class citizens when it comes to nabbing good roles in productions. The same would apply to Emerson’s BFA vs. BA students, as well as those at UConn, your most logical safety. If you want a BA program, consider schools that don’t offer a BFA.

Wright State in OH has a BA and BFA in Theater. [Theatre Studies | Catalog](http://catalog.wright.edu/theatre-studies) The cost is $26K/year for OOS. [Tuition & Fees | Wright State University](Tuition & Fees | Bursar | Wright State University) You would need to audition.
