Searching for boarding schools with more than calculus

Yes, I think any school that is serious about academics requires the SSAT. It is very unlikely that your son would exhaust the math offerings at most of these schools.

@PossiblePrepMom and @nadk01 my DD is also excited about NMH. We met with the math teacher/track coach and my daughter asked the exact question about how high you can go hear in math. He said some students were taking College Number theory and other college math. He made it clear that you would not cap out of math at NMH.

If it hasn’t been mentioned, I would suggest Milton Academy.

What’s the 4x5 schedule mean? I can’t find an explanation of the concept.

A 4x5 schedule would mean 4 classes a term with 5 terms a year.

Thanks! I’m surprised that the pros and cons of the 4x5 model have not gotten a more full airing. I searched the Phillipian archives and only found one article announcing implementation of the schedule would occur in 2017.

That’s very interesting. So you get to have 20 finals /yr? Hopefully no midterms since each term is so short?

One school we looked at has a 3x7 schedule (3 classes, 7 terms). They do have midterms and finals, but it is super compressed. I think they said 4 terms is equal to a full year class (i.e. math, language).
