Searching for online history course

My son is in 8th grade. He takes his writing, math (precalc) and science (honors biology) through CTY. However, he wants to take a history course which CTY does not offer. Can anyone please suggest a good online history course for homeschooler?

Thank you.

If you are interested in designing your own course, we liked the Annenberg lectures on American history, available online, A Biography of America.
Annenberg Media - A Biography of America

We used a text that is often chosen by Advanced Placement teachers: The Brief American Pageant: A History of the Republic by David M. Kennedy, Lizabeth Cohen, Thomas Bailey, and Mel Piehl. We also used quite a few other resources, including original documents, but this was the main text.

UC Berkeley has some free course materials online for AP American History and several other AP courses.
UCCP Open Access

Were you looking for American History or something else?

Thanks. I'll have him look at both.

He wants something like the AP United States Government & Politics (CTY) but they said he has to be in 9th grade to take that course.

I vaguely recall CTD Learning links having some history courses.

Try PA Homeschoolers. They have it and their classes are very good. Pennsylvania Homeschoolers AP Online Classes

Florida Virtual School has great AP courses; both traditional school and non-traditional schools have it. I am a senior (applying to Ivy/T20 schools) and I've used it. Great programs, helpful teachers.

Patrick Henry College offers history online. Patrick Henry College. That may work for your son.

I strongly recommend Penn. Homeschoolers' AP US history class.

PA Homeschoolers US History is excellent!

I'd strongly recommend both PA Homeschoolers' World History Class and their U.S. History Class. DD has taken both. There are reviews, written by students, of the PA Homeschoolers' classes on the PA Homeschool website. These classes vary a great deal, in terms of the teachers' teaching styles, amount of interaction with other students, etcetera, and many of the courses are offered by more than one teacher, so it's good to take a close look at course descriptions and reviews. DD has taken 8 courses through PA Homeschool and all of them were very good-to excellent courses. HTH
