Hi everyone. Does anybody know where the best place to find roommates at USC is? Is there a room surf type thing for USC because I want to room with somebody i don't know but don't know if I want to trust the completely "random" method. Thanks!

My D said that there are roommate requests on the class of 2018 Facebook page (don’t have the link handy, but it shouldn’t be hard to find).

There is roommate matching on the housing app site and you can use Facebook.

Use the official FB page, not the housing portal. It’s much more helpful.

Ditto - my daughter said the USC Facebook page for admitted students (it was a closed/private group) was fun for meeting people in general. Her potential roommate eventually had to turn down her admissions due to finances, but my D ended up in the same dorm as other like-minded people she’d met on the page and it’s turned into her Freshman network.

While you can clearly use the USC Facebook page to meet people quickly, the USC Housing portal, once you are registered, does at least allow you to use key word searches that could help you to quickly find anyone registered who has mentioned a certain dorm, major or whatever you may want to search for… that is, if they filled out the description and offered any details. It has worked thus far for my D.

Last year my daughter found her roommate/best friend on Room Surf- it links to each person’s personal Facebook page

My daughter got assigned roommates through the housing portal. It worked out wonderfully. They are all still good friends and some of the group continue to live together off campus this year and next (she’ll be a junior in the fall).

^^^ditto for my son’s entire suite group. All came in through the housing portal and it is fab. Great diversity of majors yet they all seem to have things in common and are great friends and support system. For those that want the shopping done for them rather than to search themselves, we can certainly recommend it.
