Searching for safeties

Hello all, I'm a female junior from Massachusetts. My SAT scores are 2320 (CR 800, M 790, W 730), and my PSATs are 229, so I should be a NMSF. My unweighted GPA will be 3.87-3.90 at the end of this year (depending on a borderline math grade), and I'm in the top decile at my public school (school doesn't rank). I've taken a very rigorous courseload.

Basically, I'm looking for safeties that I would actually want to attend. Financially, my parents can afford the full cost of private school, and they would be willing to pay if I got into one of my top choices. However, I am also looking for schools that would be cheaper, either because I would probably receive merit scholarships or because tuition is already less expensive than the most costly privates. I will most likely not qualify for much need-based aid.

Aside from the state flagship, which is an obvious choice, what would be some good options for financial and/or academic safeties? I'm almost certain I want to study physics, and I think I'm prefer mid-sized co-ed schools with an academic focus (I'm not really into big sports scenes). Additionally, I like schools with defined campuses that are in or near cities. However, most of these are preferences rather than requirements, and I'm pretty much open to suggestions. Distance from home is not really an issue.

Thank you all in advance for your help. :)

American University
George Washington University
Fordham University
Brandeis University
Lake Forest College (I think this is near Chicago)

In the Financial Aid Forum, there is a sub-forum for the topic of NMF scholarships. Some of these constitute full rides. You might take a look at the threads there to see if anything could work for you.
