Searching for the Right College

Actually, I'm from Georgia but I'm a huge red sox fan.

If your stats are good enough for Emory, or Rochester, consider Brandeis--good poli sci, liberal, in Red Sox country, and being from Georgia could give you geographical advantage--more individual attention than at BU.

My mom's actually a graduate of Brandeis, but my grades are decent. Not Brandeis good.

What other LACs would be good for IR/PoliSci in the new york, pennsylvania, massachusetts area?

UChicago, but their admissions numbers are getting lower . . . .

Their PoliSci dept. is one of the best in the country.

My sisters bf graduated a couple of years ago from U Chicago...trust me its not a easy school to get into- he was a 1600 high-gpa..but low ecs...that was the only flaw he had! he is uber smart...and UChicago can get u really good internships 2 for polisci..He interned for the NYC Parks department now he works just under the commisioner of the parks(trust me thats good)

Chicago's admissions numbers are around 36% this year. Of course, the applicants are bright kids with strong scores, and, as I live on the campus, I can vouch that the students are smart and motivated.

If one wants to work hard, the U. of C. seems like an excellent school to look into.

I'll be attending the U. of C. next year, so my post, of course, may be a bit subjective. :)

im sorry redsoxguy, i really shouldn't've assumed. I'm sorry.

Trinity or Holy Cross both very good LAC's. HC has more school spirit and stronger alumni network.

redsox,

If your mom is a Brandeis grad, and your grades are borderline in the Brandeis range--maybe legacy status plus ED would get you in-if it's really a first choice for you. Just a thought.

To be honest, I don't really want to go to Brandeis and I think my grades are probably below borderline.

I've been doing research and I'm wondering how Skidmore is at political science or international relations.

GW and AU are excellent choices in DC; and, yes, George Mason University in Fairfax, VA offers many options and is highly regarded. The campus is very nice and so are its facilities.

Look at Hobart, Utica College or Syracuse

Apply to GW. They offer various types of merit scholarships in addition to financial aid based on need. You may find, with the scholarships you eventually receive, that it is cheaper than some other schools. This is what happened to my D.
