SEAS (EE) 37% acceptance rate? Not possible.

Hi guys, I would like to share some information with you:

https://www.petersons.com/graduate-schools/columbia-university-fu-foundation-school-of-engineering-and-applied-science-department-of-electrical-engineering-000_10014050.aspx

How can this acceptance rate be possible? Do you think this might be wrong? I would actually like to apply, and if this information is true, then I apply. If its 7% instead of 37%, then I dont.

I would trust information provided by the source vs. a 3rd party. Columbia quotes a 6.6% acceptance rate for the Class of 2019.

I don’t know if the number is right or not, but the OP was asking about acceptance rates for a graduate program, not for undergrad.

In general, acceptance rates for graduate school are higher than undergrad because there are less applicants and then tend to be self selected. I assume someone applying to an engineering grad program is applying because they want to further their education in a specific area and that school has a professor that is working in that area. Most engineering majors just want to work and make money after they graduate, not continue with more education. All that said, if you aren’t qualified, you won’t get in.
