As the reputation of columbia climbs, the acceptance rate for SEAS dwindles. From my observation, it seems that more and more people are applying. I guess SEAS is gonna be more competitive than other traditional engineering schools this year!

What do you guys think? Is applying SEAS a better choice than CC?

Statistically, a girl has a better chance of getting into SEAS than CC, provided she has the SATs, GPA, and whatnot

Really? What about for Asian girls?
I thought being an Asian girl would not be an advantage anymore… Cos there are so many qualified applicants there. Plus that the acceptance rate for girl and boy should be somehow similar

Acceptance rates can be misleading and are not a good measure of how competitive a school is compared to another school.

Just a side note–whether you apply to SEAS or CC really should be about your major (not which you have a better chance of getting into). Some people may apply as engineering majors for SEAS and plan to switch to CC after they get into Columbia, but it’s actually pretty difficult to switch between SEAS and CC
