SEAS questions

If I apply for the dual degree program (Liberal Arts + Engineering), and I don’t make it to the program, can I still be admitted to SEAS? (Or is it just a program anyone can enter to get a BA and BS)

What exactly is Digital Media Design? The DMD website is very vague. I see that it requires science, math, computer science, and fine arts classes, but the sample curriculum is a bit ambiguous… Do you learn 3D modeling, animation, computer science etc. or graphic design etc.? I’d like to study the latter, which I know the Fine Arts BA at Penn CAS has, but I’m curious about the engineering aspect.

1) i was under the impression that most people enter that program after admittance to seas - ask admissions for more info on that

2) dmd is all of those things - dmd alums go on to work for pixar, disney, activision, ea - all the big animation and computer games companies

you could just apply to engineering directly and then dual degree after your first year with CAS. all you need is a 3.0 GPA at the end of freshman year, which is not very hard. i know a lot of people who are going that route because they are attracted to having both a technical degree and a full liberal arts education. and if you don't end up with a 3.0 GPA freshman year (which is unlikely, but possible), that could be an indicator that two degrees probably isn't for you.
