Seas

Got admitted to SEAS. will probably be coming there if there will be some changfe in my financial status.
The engineering school is not even on the U.S news ranking list. Why should I choose GW over known engineering schools (Drexel for example)...I know I cannot even compare the campuses, but what I am trying to ask is how popular SEAS is among other engineering schools.
btw, is SEAS ABET accredited?

SEAS is ABET accredited.

GW SEAS is on the US news list as number 102 in the country for Doctoral Universities. Honestly, GW SEAS is rather distant from me other than knowing where the current building is and that the current NASA administrator is an alum. SEAS is best known for its Biomed program, which works in conjuction with the School of Medicine. SEAS is supposed to get a facilities upgrade within the next few years as apart of the campus plan, but their current building seems pretty nice.

At GW, SEAS boasts the lowest faculty-student ratio of the entire university. I want to say 8:1. With that amazing ratio, students develop great ties with the faculty and even assist them with the prof's current research project. GW profs and students are currently working with the US Olympic Swimming team. They either developed or improved a program that tracks the swimmer's fluid dynamics, so all these nodes are attached to the body and a computer tracks drag and resistance. It's pretty sweet.

The classrooms in SEAS are set up in a way that the professor, the GTA and the students all have work stations in one room. Another way SEAS fosters that tight community.

SEAS undergrads compete in many competitions for all types of engineering and frequently take home awards.

I'm not an engineering major. I'm just sharing with you my knowledge of the school.

any other comments...thanks btw

Don't pay attention to the rankings..they are flawed in my opinion, due mainly to the fact that they are based on endowment and not alum success and per capita income. Washington, DC has the second highest population of scientists in the entire country, which means you will have ample oppertunity to network, intern and get engaged

Haha all of my friends dated guys at the SEAS school. They LOVED it, and they are so successful now. One guy is at Stanford Medical School, another at Cornell Medical School, and a bunch at top graduate engineering programs across the country. Gw's engineering school may not be ranked very high, but I think our reputation is far better than some high-ranked engineering schools. I'm not saying reputation = quality, just that it does play a big role in grad school admissions.
