SeattleU EA Thread Class of 2020

I thought I’d make this for us to give info on our acceptances/scholarships/rejections and your relative stats. Hopefully we start receiving our packets/letters by tomorrow!!!

Did you apply for Sullivan? Website says notification will be today (Dec 23), not sure if that means via email or a letter.

My daughter is waiting, SU is currently sitting pretty high on her list.

Good luck!

I was hoping my letter would come today, but it didn’t. They sent me a regular ol’ advertising packet and when I pulled it out the mailbox I thought it was my letter! Easily the most anticlimactic experience of the holidays so far. I guess I’ll have to keep waiting 8-|

I would be interested to hear why people are applying to Seattle U. What draws you to it? Eagerly waiting for the Mail tomorrow!

For me, its the similarity to my high school. I go to a private Catholic school and it’s really changed me. I’m a completely different person now than I was freshman and sophomore year and it’s been a change for the better. I’ve also been able to go pretty good academically in that setting so I’m hoping to be in the same environment during college so I can do just as well, if not better. I like the intimacy and small classes as well as the Jesuit tradition. And the city! I love Seattle and SU is right in the heart of it  Although I might reconsider SU if I get accepted to UW. Of course, UW is almost the polar opposite of SU, but you can’t beat the academia and college experience anywhere else in Seattle. It’s gonna be a hard decision, but I have a feeling UW is gonna stuff me with financial aid since I’m OOS so SU is still my #1

I am from Nevada and haven’t visited UW or SU yet- waiting to see if I get in, but I like the idea of both and Seattle. I am not religious, however, which makes me question SU. I really want to be RIGHT in the city and from what I can tell UW is not, is that right? I worry about the big classes and the TA/lack of personalization at UW. UGH. Decisions, decisions. I’d love any feedback from those considering both of these schools. WHERE IS THE MAIL?

I’m with you 2828, I’m from California and I haven’t visited either school, I was just in the city for a few days. Although, honestly, there is no reason to worry about the religious aspect of SU. Yes, its a Catholic school, but only 35% of the population is Catholic. They don’t require you to participate in religious activities and such like SPU does. UW isn’t in the heart of the city. Its in the University district. This isn’t really a problem though, UW is only a 12-15 minute drive from SU so the life of the city is still within reach. I’m worried about the class size and personalization of UW too. I just can’t learn in a large lecture hall, I need the personal attention. I do believe the classes get smaller the farther along you go, ie classes specific to your major. Even then I hear it’s about 35 people per class. I need to get up there and look at each campus. The only problem is: if I get accepted to UW I only have about a month to go visit and finding a personal tour where I can ask questions I’d going to be impossible. I guess I’ll have to make it work though (granted I get in in the first place). SU’s first though so the post man better be carrying good news today!

Got the big envelope today! Super excited!

Congrats! I’m still waiting for mine :-S

got accepted to the Nursing Program today! So excited but waiting on other schools too:)
mntEden: I live in California as well so I hope you hear soon!!

swimchick97- I got into the nursing program too! What other programs are you waiting to hear from? Did you get into other nursing programs you are considering? I’m excited to have gotten in to SU!!

I just got accepted into Seattle U today! I was accepted into the Pre-Business Program!

rustydog55- Congrats!! So far I have gotten into the University of Portland and Mount St. Mary’s. I’ll hear from USF in March/April timeframe I think! As of right now, I’m highly considering both UP and SU. I got great scholarships from both of them and they’re both direct nursing programs, so that’s a MAJOR plus for me. Also, SU has an amaaaazingly beautiful CPL lab in Swedish Hospital (where we’ll be practicing our skills on dummies before we go into clinicals). What about you? Where else are you considering? Crazy to think one day we might be classmates

Finally got my letter today!! Super excited – SU was a safety but I love the city so much. I also got the Trustee scholarship :’) Just waiting for info on the tuition exchange now…

I got in! This is so awesome. Now I know I’m going to one of my top choices for sure. I’m so excited!!

Hi Swimchick- I also got in UP and USF. It is such a tough decision. What do you think will guide you in making your choice? Have you visited UP and SU? I am planning trips to both soon. I also am waiting to hear from SDSU and UCLA but am fairly doubtful but you never know  Where are you from?? Sounds like we could possible end up in the same program!!

Hey Rustydog and wimchick, I just got my acceptance to UP (waiting on USF). I’m curious as to why you guys and considered applying as well

Still waiting on my daughter’s packet to arrive in So Cal. We do know she’s been admitted and invited to Sullivan Leader’s Day next weekend. So we’re just waiting to see which merit award she received.

@Rustydog55 I’m from the SF Bay Area! I’m visiting UP the week after MLK and I visited SU last year. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure what will make/break my decision to attend either UP or SU, but I’m hoping to be committed somewhere by February!

@arc918 congrats to your daughter! That sounds so exciting
@mntEden I’m a bit confused…do you mean why are we considering UP, SU and USF?
