SEC...Real Football...Real Girlfriends!

I feel for this kid, Manti Teo, I hope that someone would tell him to get in front of a camera and tell the world the truth…Island Brah, Honesty will set u free!

As a parent, I did not realized that online romance is so common and even the best get duped…I hope for the best.

…or dOped (e.g., L’ance). (What a disappointing man HE turned out to be.)

Being in N. Texas where Lance kind of grew up and some of the bike shops idolize him, I always perceived he was somewhat arrogant.

Johnny “Misdemeanor” Football got a speeding ticket in Ennis, Tx.
So that makes it:

  1. Arrested for failure to identify and presenting a fake ID
  2. Going to a club that is 21 and up withOUT his parents. He is 20
He went twice. One night w/ parents. Next night w/o them.
  3. Gambling. Even though it was legal in Oklahoma at Choctaw or Winspear to gamble at 18. Just doesn’t look good. And how does a college guy get THAT much money???
  4. Ticket for speeding. Okay, okay, I can’t say much on this one… still. Public is watching Johnny and you know that you are going to be scrutinized more than others.

And, as I posted elsewhere, it makes no sense that this would happen to anybody.
All one needs to do is say “we Skype” or it’s over.

I still find it hard to believe that he didn’t attempt to visit her before returning for football in the summer. Flying from Hawaii, doing a stopover in Calif isn’t a big deal.

And, wouldn’t you think after her “death,” he wouldn’t have gotten funeral info, etc??? Sent flowers, etc? Tried to attend, etc?

He said that EVERY night he and she would keep their cell phone lines connected while each slept because it made it easier for her to sleep. I’d like to see cell phone records.

And, since there should be cell phone records who really owns that other line?

I’m of the opinion that Teo is hiding something else and this was the proverbial “girlfriend in Canada.” Provided that he didn’t use the death to get money for himself or charity, he doesn’t seem to have done anything illegal. He should just come out with the truth. If anything negative happens as a result, plenty of people will willingly give him money.

As for Johnny Manziel, people should first look to see if something is illegal before calling him out on it. If my understanding of Texas law is correct, he go to a store and buy as much non-alcoholic (actually 0.5% ABV) beer as he wants and drink any type of alcohol in the presence of his parents (the drinking age is less than 21 for selected situations in many states.) As for the gambling, the gaming industry is heavily regulated and is often 18+ (or less based on the wording for scratch tickets). Many people have large college scholarships thanks to gaming and/or lotteries.

In Texas, the drinking age is 21. No waivering on that law at all. The TBA has done many a sting on underage drinking and purchasing of alcohol. He went to that club 2 nights in a row. First night with his parents. Second night, no parents in sight. While Texas law does say that a parent/guardian can give their children alcohol they can also get in trouble for it and the establishment can refuse to serve an underage patron even if a parent/guardian is present. There have been parents fined for giving alcohol to a minor even if it is their own child. It is a sticky area.

I am not against gambling. I gamble, legally. In Las Vegas, Reno, Shreveport your under 21 year old child can not even stand beside you when you put a few quarters in a slot machine. They are pretty sticky and strict on that. They even asked my own 2 girls to move away once when we were waiting on our bags and I walked over 10’ to a slot machine and my girls followed me. The Indian casinos allow gambling at 18. I did not even know that till this recent pic came of of him. And I am only 2 hours from them.
I play the lottery. Nothing against it at all. Good friends hit major lottery B-I-G and have funded many college educations including their own 3 kids.

I’m in now way criticizing you and recognize that just becuse something is legal doesn’t mean that it’s the best idea. Even a lot of law enforcement, let alone minimum wage employees, aren’t up to date with the drinking law, so being 21+ is the best option.

Where I’m from, the Indian Casinos used to require a security guard to escort children and parents to the buffet. That isn’t required now, but at least one patron has to be 21+. I was never carded during the summer I spent in Reno when I was 20, despite going at all times of the night, but never gambling. Casinos in Las Vegas hardly ever carded when I went there for my 21st birthday (and never for gambling), but the TSA officers in Las Vegas were surprised that I had just turned 21. After all, why would anybody go to Las Vegas for their 21st birthday and fly first class both ways? :)

I’m glad that Nick Saban keeps good control of his players, but since the Bear, Alabama hasn’t really operated on the star player model that other schools use. The Bear said something along the lines of “I don’t want [to sign] superstar players; I want good players that I can turn into superstars” and Alabama has followed his advice.

Sea_tide, I thought the “girlfriend in Canada.” meant a geeky guy that couldn’t get a date? Te’o is football player I can’t imagine that would have been a problem.

The indian’s added a casino in michigan around where I grew up. Unfortunately the gambling age is 18 and there is a college in the town. Lots of college kids lose their money there.
I wish the age was older.

Ok, so I am in the oilfield on a situation and my mother, who knows not to call during working hours, texts me. I drop what I am doing to see what the text is all about. Apparently, my mother who is a huge “Dancing With The Stars” fan found out that Katherine Webb, Miss Alabama, will be on her favorite show.

She just couldn’t wait to tell me!! Priorities! She is so funny.

I had heard speculation weeks ago that the fake girlfriend ruse could be related to a particular preference. Looks there may be something to it.

The downside is that Ennis is a SPEEDTRAP.

The upside is that you can POLKA non-stop all weekend at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

At least you could in 1983.
