So what do you guys think? I can P.M. my essays to any of you already accepted peeps to review if you'd like :-). Also, does anyone know if it will hurt me that 3 other highly wualified students from my school are applying to same school/major?

Thanks!! :-D

oh yeah, and the two other students who won the NYS Merit scholarship are the two applying to sam school/major from my school, lol.

...anyone?

Your numbers all appear to be well in the range, being in state is a great asset. Unless Biology is by far your greatest interest, I wouldn't major in it.

Biology is by far my greatest interest. What are stats like for acceptees?

I'm majoring in bio...my scores were somewhat similar to yours a bit better, and I was #2 in my class (gpa 4.85). They say not to major in bio b/c it's common and therefore harder to get into.

Do you think I have a shot? Will my chances at the Ag school increase if I do a secondary choice major? And will my chances decrease because of two other qualified kids from my school?

I would definately do a second choice major, choose Plant sciences or something because it has the same intro requirements. I got in for bio ED, and the two other kids who applied from my school got in too. Each college has a different admission commitee, so if the kids at your school don't apply to CALS then it doesn't matter.

yeah...they're applying to the same school AND major (even secondary major!), blah.

bump :-)... anyone else, what do you guys think?

bumpity bump bump

bump... please will somebody answer? lol. It'd be a great Christmas present :-)!

I think the adcoms will be the best judge of your chances. You seem borderline so try to distinguish yourself with essays/recs. How competitive is your school? I'm curious because you're barely in top ten percent.

Well it's not too competitive, decently competitive, but I was never as motivated as I have been in my Junior and Sneior years. I used to earn 90s, but I haven't received an overall average under 95 in the past 5 marking periods. I mean the top 15% are pobably fairly competitive, but after that, it's all like 70s- low 80s. I think the validictorian has a ~99.5 UW.

For CALS, chances=very good. For biology chances=not great.

so, Biology and Society = ???

Go ahead an apply to both if that's what you're interested in. Just try to distinguish yourself with a great looking application. Hope to see you there next year!

thanks...surprisingly, that's one of the first nice things anyone's said to me on this thread/entire CC community.
