Hi All - quick rundown: I was a JuCo transfer to UCSD for Literature. I dropped out, and now want to pursue CS. I have too many units (super senior status) to switch majors at UCSD and am only allowed to finish the Lit degree. I have met my quota for max amount of JuCO units that can be transferred for credit. I've applied to UCI, UCD, UCR, SJSU, and both Cal Polys. I'm a long shot for any of them IMO because I'm so close to graduating at UCSD, and because I haven't taken any of the PreReqs for CS at all, just my GE classes.

If you're still with me - does anyone know, or have any experience, with second baccalaureates? If I were to finish at UCSD for Lit (if I get denied from all schools), and I wanted to apply for a BS at any other school, would I be able to take my prereqs at a JuCo? Here's the stupid question: can I start over since all my previous units would go towards my BA?

: I AM IN SENIOR STANDING AT MY FOUR-YEAR INSTITUTION; CAN I DISREGARD SOME OF MY COURSES SO THAT I AM ELIGIBLE TO APPLY TO YOUR SCHOOL?

A: UCLA only admits transfer students from 4-year institutions who are at the junior level (minimum 60/90 semester/quarter units; maximum 86/129 semester/quarter units). We do not allow students to disregard any transferable coursework. (You must report all attempted college work, even if you do not think it is transferable or do not want the credit.) Therefore, a senior at a 4-year institution is not likely to be admitted.

To get an idea of the number of units you may have if you are attending an institution other than a UC campus (all courses are transferable between UC campuses), you should review your coursework and compare it to the courses offered at UCLA. You will find our course descriptions in the UCLA General Catalog. If your own review indicates that the transferable number of units is within the range required (60-90 semester, 86-129 quarter), you are eligible to apply.

If you decide to apply, however, do not omit any college work from your application, even if you are positive it is not transferable. (Non-transferable courses/units will be removed by a UC Evaluator.)

You cannot discount the previous units with that said IF you complete all major pre-reqs at a CC, you will have a chance for some of the UC like UCD or CSU like CSULB.

If you don’t have any of the pre-reqs done, you are looking at 2 yrs min to get the pre-reqs done. Calc 1-3, LA & DE, Calc based Physics 1-3, General Chem 1-2 and maybe Organic Chem 1-2. Plus the CS pre-reqs and possibly additional math classes. And now that you have so many units, your priority will be terrible for CC enrollment. Personally I think this is a long-shot and unreasonable.
