Second chances?

Alright, first of all, I'm not taking this too seriously, I just have some free time and am curious about feedback. I took a year off after attending a competitive public school to work as an intern for a missionary organization. I applied once to these schools as a senior, but was waitlisted and then rejected for the most part. I was going to defer enrollment even if I got in, i didn't just pout because I was rejected. I started working as a waiter a week after graduation and will soon leave to work with orphans for 6 months in a third world country. What do you think my chances are with all of my AP scores coming in and with what I did with my time off.

You definitely have the stats. Make yourself stand out in the essays.
I’m not sure you’re eligible. Don’t you have to be a high school senior?

^No, he’s eligible. It’s uncommon to take a gap year and reapply, but it’s not unheard of-- a fair number of people do it. So long as you don’t have X number of college credits before reapplying, and it hasn’t been more than 1-2 years since you graduated, you still apply as a first-time freshmen as if you were a HS senior.

Otherwise, like engineerjw said, you look like competitive. Just make sure you stand out in the essays-- I think either in them or in the additional info section you should talk about what the gap year’s done for you.

Correction, I’ve been in Peru for 2 months already, I’m a lazy typer so I like to copy and paste… And yeah, almost all of my essays focus on my decision and what led to it.
