I learned from my d a few days ago that OCU has discontinued that policy. You can, now, only audition one time. You might want to confirm that. It's certainly possible she received some bad info, but she's usually pretty careful with her info, so I'm thinking that's probably correct. They hold 3 sets of auditions, November, February, and April. Apply early, they fill up.

The University of Arizona allows people to re-audition after not being admitted to the program, and also after being cut from the program. I knew several transfer students in both Acting and MT, and also several people who did not get in initially, but then got in the next year (they had to start as freshmen though.) I don't know of ANYONE who was cut and got back in on a re-audition the next year or even two years later. There were several people who tried and did not succeed.

I don't know if they changed the policy at OCU this year, but I do know people who auditioned twice there last year, 1 of which was admitted into both Acting and Vocal Performance the 2nd time (but not MT), after having been accepted into only Vocal the 1st time. She is now there as an Acting major.

Samia,

My son is currently a Freshman at Arizona, so you've made me a little nervous. I did have a question, though. You said all of your 75 credits were in dance, vocal and theatre. Surely you took some of the required academic courses as well, didn't you?

I tested out of so many required academic classes because of the zillions of AP classes I took in high school, so my gen.ed. requirements were very low. I believe I took 5 or 6 academic total in 4 semesters. (I didn't have to do foreign language or math, and only one semester of english, plus the regular gen.ed. classes, so only 7 academic classes total were actually required for me to graduate.)

I'm sure your son will be fine. I heard Encore is doing Irving Berlin this year. We did Irving Berlin when I was a freshman too, I sang Blue Skies. :)

I spoke to an advisor at OCU today and he said that they were considering discontinuing the re-audition opportunity for Freshmen in Theatre Performance.

No decision has been made as of yet.

They will still honor those Fresmen who want to re-audition at only one time during the year.

The sheer numbers of auditions are at issue as is the introduction of the BFA for TP and the soon to be establised School of Theatre which will be separate from School of Music.

Right now theatre is a department which uses School of Music administration and facility

I think this topic was recently addressed on another thread, but Point Park allows one additional audition but it must be at least 3 months later.
