Second Choice Major

Hello,

I've noticed a lot of the schools that I'm applying to offer second choice majors. I just wanted to know how the admissions on that works. For example, I put engineering as my first choice, biology as my second and chemistry as my third. Does that mean that the school would consider me for the engineering first and if I'm rejected from engineering, would consider me for biology? And then if I'm rejected from biology, would they consider me for chemistry?

Thank you!

UIUC does this. Most of the time it is because they may be full and also other students had better stats. Engineering and Business for UIUC require much more rigorous stats. They also can be in different colleges but both Chemistry and Biology are LAS so should be no issue. Also many kids switch majors so I would not worry.

Thanks!

Bump
