Second-guessing

i got into harvard EA for a double major in econ/biomed engineering.

for 4 years it was all i wanted and i worked my butt off to get in. anyways now that the major excitement of my admission has sort of died down, im wondering if its really the place i want to go. its not binding luckily… but its just confused me.

am i the only one or is there anyone else that feels the same way?

thanks and good luck to everyone.

well if you're hesitant about it there are people who wouldn't think twice. i know i wouldn't.

I think you should know that there is pretty much no way you're going to be able to double major in econ and biomed engineering.

At Harvard, if you double major, you have to write a thesis that connects the two fields. How you're going to do that for those two is something I'd like to see.

why take a spot away from someone else then if you're not sure. Shame on you!!!

That person isn't taking away a spot from someone else. If he decides not to attend Harvard then someone else will be accepted whether RD or off the waitlist to fill his spot. Just because someone was accepted doesn't mean that they took the spot from you. He isn't sure where he wants to go and that is perfectly natural. If he wants to go through the pain of more college applications just to be sure than let him. Although I would hope that he would limit his applications to only a few schools that he would seriously consider over Harvard. Trophy hunting is something to be frowned upon.

you could easily write a thesis tying econ and biomedE together

For example, biomedical product designs are influenced by many factors, one of them being economic issues. You can also write a thesis on the economic policy at the interface between technology and health care in the public and private domains.

That wouldn't be such a hard thesis, but the courseload would be crazed.

Econ and Biomed engineering would not be hard to connect together in a thesis.

Supermehta, you may not even want to major in that stuff after the second semester. The beauty of Harvard is that you can change directions a million times. A connective thesis is a piece of cake in those two fields. Stay with Harvard. If you're thinking tech, i.e. MIT, as an alternative, you're better of with Harvard. You have much more flexibility.

i dont know. sempertin555 or whoever, im sorry if i've offneded you by potentially taking someones spot but thats why they call it early ACTION. it isnt binding and therefore it gives me the flexibility to make my own decision.

in terms of my major, im pretty set on econ for sure. but im good at science so i thought biomed would be a good addition too. i think i can handle the work (i survived HS hahaha) so im not sure.

i think this whole CC thing is so funny though. some of the people on here are so hardcore about college. i guess i am too though

anyways thanks everyone. where else are you all applying?

oh and thanks chasgoose.. if i say no, someone else will get in. as for trophy hunting, im not - trust me
