Second Interview

Is a second interview after a defferal a good sign?

I mean, I’ve never really heard of that happening. I hate to say it, but if anything that’s probably a bad sign. The people harvard admits they can usually tell right away whether their in. I guess they’re still thinking about you but most of the class has already been decided.

Anytime you can make a second impression, it’s always a positive sign! Second interviews usually happen because the first interview was inconclusive, or on the fence. Two questions guide admissions decisions: (1) Who is likely to make the most of our resources? and (2) Who will contribute most significantly to our community? Go into your second interview knowing why you are the answer to those questions, be relaxed, and be your “best self.” Good luck!

Yes Gibby I agree, best foot forward. I did not mention that my S sent a letter to them expressing some changes in his application such as much improvement in SAT (1980-2200) and additional community service. He also expressed changes in his intended major since his first interview. He is very driven right about now and will do all he can to show that he belongs there. Very proud of him. Thanks for all your support:)

A word of advice, OP: never take advice from someone with less than 5 posts. Ever. Like the bigH here telling you that a second interview is a bad thing.

Even then, take advice from users with less than 15 posts with a grain of salt. The most trustworthy, if it isn’t obvious already, are those with post counts in the thousands (like gibby).

yes i sort of know this…always a character in the bunch. Agree that Gibby gives superb advice!
