A girl I know said that she got called back from Brown for a second (alumni) interview. Should I be worried? Does this type of thing even exist?

She is building castles in the air

Never heard of it, and I've been interviewing for more than 30 years.

Second interviews happen if there are huge discrepancies between one's application and one's interview, if the interviewer didn't feel like they were able to give Brown a good report (by this I don't necessarily mean a positive "good" picture of the applicant, but an interview that would give Brown a full picture of the applicant), or if something happened during the interview that cut it short and meant that the interviewer couldn't get enough information to report back to Brown.
Unlike some people will tell you, second interviews are not necessarily a good thing. They don't mean that "you've made the cut" or that "you're in if the second one goes well." Anyone who tells you this is, as nakro said, "building castles in the air."
