Second Semester Grades and Waitlists - need to make decision

I was wondering that if I am placed on a waitlist, would that school look at my Second Semester grades (before the school year ended)? I’m asking because I think I want to get a job and make money to pay for college. At the same time, I’m preparing to be stuck on some Waitlists for schools I want to go to, so I want to know if taking this job (which will inevitably cause my grades to drop a bit because I’ll have less time) will impact my chances at admissions. I know that schools will ask for your second semester grades if the school year ends, but by then I probably would’ve committed to a school

Does anybody know?

Some schools will request 3rd quarter or 2nd semester grades. Having high marks will be in your favor for getting off wait lists.

Are you sure having a job will hurt your grades? Most seniors at my school have had jobs for at least this year, often more.

If you are put on a waitlist, that means that you were not a clear admittee. So having your GPA go down is not going to help your case. That being said, as long as you keep B’s or better I would think you should be ok. Spend more time getting to know and love the schools you HAVE been admitted to than worrying about wait lists

Most waitlists will clear during the month of May. Not suggesting you not take second semester seriously but the final date for accepted students to make their decision is almost universally May 1st and then colleges want to fill any waitlist spots as quickly as possible after that. Applicants do come off the waitlist way into the summer but most waitlist spots are filled fairly quickly
