I know this topic has been beaten to death with a stick, but does anyone know the policy regarding second semester senior grades with Ivies and other top tier privates (say, those ranked top 20)? I've heard that they want you to keep up around the same grades that you've had throughout high school, but what's the worst GPA one can get without getting rescinded? Someone told me that it was nothing lower than a 3.0, and someone else told me that one grade lower than first semester grade for each class is okay (A first semester to a B, or B first semester to a C). What would be safe?

Worst GPA that's guaranteed to not be rescinded? 4.0 is a safe bet.

Every school has different policies. But from my experience, a college will NEVER rescind admission for a B in any class. That might happen for a C, but NEVER a B. So, in a way, I guess the cutoff really is a 3.0.

Maintain all A's and B's and you'll be fine. If you get a C (or two), you might be OK, but really, you'd be walking on a fine line.

I think half A's + half B's can be considered a very "safe" bet. That would be a 3.5 GPA. A 3.0 is probably fine.
