Second Semester Grades: How Low Can You Go?

Hey, as a second semester senior that usually gets straight As, how many Bs (or even Cs) can I get without threatening a withdrawal of admission?

I love this thread... free bumps. I don't know, I kinda want to though. I'm an ED admit.

Lol, I also kind of want to know.

But for me, it's like... I usually get 95+. Would Caltech/MIT rescind if I got 90s.... lol. Then again, I probably wouldn't anyway.. but it's kind of a funny thought. haha

hmmm...I'm wondering too.

B's are no problem at all. One or two C's are generally acceptable (in more challenging courses). Stay away from D's and of course F's. Generally just be content with A's and B's, but a C usually won't kill you

Is it true ED gets more slack because we withdrew all other apps, and therefore we have no other options g-d forbid we actually get rescinded?

That I cannot answer, as I have no idea.

General accepted knowledge at my school is that you can drop one letter grade - so an A average can go to a B average, and B average could go to C average, etc.

bump.....bump

Generally, you can drop down to a 3.00 UW GPA (B average) second semester, and have no more than one C.

What I would do is work real hard until April, then slack off and coast the rest of the way.

Aeshchina's idea sounds about right. I'm not flipping out about getting straight As anymore, but I couldn't live with myself if I got Cs. I've NEVER gotten a C on a report card and I don't intend to start now. It honestly depends on the caliber of where you've been accepted. I know a girl who got early into Stanford on a scholarship and they called her up around January to pull her grades up b/c she got a B in english. She did and they kept her accepted.
