Second Semester Grades

When do colleges look at your second semester grades? My grades and GPA are okay but I planned on going over the top for my senior year this upcoming fall. I am taking a lot of AP courses so my GPA will go up (I have taken AP’s before). The only problem is that I will not see my grade and gpa increase on my official transcript till January 27th 2016 but the regular admissions deadline to turn in all materials is January 1st 2016, so I am afraid colleges won’t be able to see my improved grades. Will colleges go back and see my improvement or just look at the okay grades and GPA.

Second semester or second quarter? Many colleges require a midyear report (which will have second quarter grades) as part of the admissions process, which will be considered in the admissions process. Second semester, which would be the Spring semester, will not be final until after the college has made its admissions decision, although usually admissions decisions are contingent upon maintaining grades throughout the year. Most colleges will require a final transcript, and any drastic slip in grades can result in the college rescinding its offer.
