I was wondering to know the effect of switching from an Honors English elective that lasts one semester to a regular level English elective that lasts one semester on college admissions. I worry that I am getting burnt out from the extracurriculars and other AP courses I have, and the last thing I need to worry about is another honors course. Our school has different types of English for each semester, so one might focus on poetry, one might focus on persuasion, etc. I have been accepted to some top state schools, including a presidential scholarship.
You will need to contact the colleges if there is a difference between your transcript and what you put on the common app for your courses. I don’t think it will matter but they want to be made aware.

Just curious, do you know if they factor one’s second semester rigor into the decision? What I mean is my whole schedule is the same, but I ended my first semester of an honors english course and this is a seperate honors english course, but I want to switch out of it.
If you are a senior you need to be very careful about switching.down a level.of a core class.
–If you have been admitted to any colleges email and ask if dropping down a level will impact your offer of admission or your scholarship (a friend’s D was told by a top tier college that her offer of admission would be re-evaluated if she dropped down from AP Calc to honors calc so she stayed in the AP class).
–You have to notify every college you are waiting for an admissions decision from that your second semester schedule has changed. If you do not do so it could be grounds for an acceptance being rescinded down the road. Remember, your college will get your final transcript and will see the change in coursework.
Be sure to get replies in writing from each college.
