I'm worried. Ok, its only about 1/4 into the first semester but my grades are AWEFUL! I have 2 A's, 1B and 3C's! I think i'll be able to get at least 2 of those C's up to B's but still, my grades suck. Will my current grades (assuming they don't change) get me rescinded admission?

I assume you mean the second semester when you said "1/4 into the first". Dont worry about it, read the topic that onequestion made and read some of that. A lot of people fall into the same problem, but you really really need to screw up to be rescinded. Check out this topic for some more advice

yea im in there

how bad do your grades have to be to be rescinded for a okay to good college? im looking to just pass my classes do minimal work.

college won't look at your pending grades(grade-to-date), right?? i'm pretty sure i can bring my grades up by the end of the semester. however, my grades SUCK here.

not your pending grades, but they do look at your final transcript. I know at Duke, you need a counsler explanation or something if you've got a c on your second semester report card.

Some colleges look at your mid-year report; others at your final transcript.

If I were you, I would do three things now -- burying your head in the sand will not make this problem go away :

(1) talk with your guidance counselor and get his/her opinion of where you stand

(2) if you're really panicky, talk with (or have your guidance counselor talk with) the office of admission about any difficulties you've been having that have caused your grades to tank (senioritis doesn't count here folks!)

(3) work, for cranky sakes...you guys are nearly college students...yes, you want to enjoy being a senior, but are 3+ months of fun worth throwing away the school of your dreams that you've worked 4+ years to get into?????? A no brainer to me! Sit down with your guidance counselor and your teachers and make a plan to get yourselves back on track to some degree or other.

Remember guys, when you're in college next fall, you'll need to be doing this realtime on your own. Get some practice now. Come the fall, you'll be independent young adults...you will be your own bottomline. Get a head start! Good luck! :)

It also depends on which school youre going to. If its Ivy League, or a top tier school, you probably dont want your grades to slip. If its a small local college/university that has easy admission and youre going there as a safety, I wouldnt worry about it then.

What if it is a LAC of rank 20ish..(US news & world report? Would it keep a tap on ED accepted student's mid year grade and the final grade as well?

~~~thanks~~~
Make sure midyears are good. Do your best, try to keep up your grades second semester, and don't fret. Second semester marks will have to be really bad to derail you.
Just do your best guys. Second semester grade reports really aren't stressed. Colleges know theres a lot going on with trying to find the right college, and they also know you want to enjoy the last semester of high school. But if it is ranked 20, Id say for you to TRY not to get more then one C, that way you wont have to worry about it. Im sure even if you got three C's they wouldn't rescind it. For me its a little easier considering Im going to a state school (NC state) and my GPA is a 3.7.
are you guys talking about Cs per quarter or per report card? lol jw
