Second Thoughts & Concerns!

I'm in the middle of completing my applications now- and I'm beginning to have major doubts! I'm applying to pretty much every NESCAC school (Bates, Colby, Conn College, Hamilton, etc.), and for so long I have convinced myself that I want to attend a small school. The problem is, I am starting to worry that I may want to be at a school with more students & more to do around campus.
Do you know of any schools that I should research further that could meet these standards?

The Basics:
Weighted GPA- 4.3
Multiple extracurriculars- blah blah blah, I don't feel the need to brag.
Love to ski/race (so definitely prefer the North East)
Looking to major in Psych (pretty standard, so this isn't limiting)

The Patriot League has some larger LAC’s that are strong in academics and athletics. Among them Colgate, Holy Cross, and Bucknell have 2800-3600 students.

If you like to ski/race, have you considered small private schools in Colorado? I would include Montana as well but their small private LACs aren’t that close to skiing.

call up the admissions dept at one or two and arrange an overnite visit once school is in session. Many schools have this, where you bring a sleeping bag and stay with a volunteer host in the dorms. You’ll want to schedule it for when school has been in session a few weeks to get a better sense of what it is like.

Dartmouth might be a good mid-sized school fit

You might like UVM, U of Maine Orono, (although they are state U’s they are great schools) UVM is one of the “state ivies”.

If you want to, upstate NY, Idaho (some of the best skiing in the US), CO, and Northern CA.

And as far as multiple extra currics…schools don’t like broad, they like deep. We call it pointy, not well-rounded. So I hope that you really spend time and effort on those extras, and aren’t just there for show.

Good luck!
