okay…so my daughter was admitted to hotel school but something felt off…she didn’t end up committing because she wanted to explore her other interests without feeling confined to going into hospitality. she ended up choosing a different university.
my daughter has been battling eating disorder and now realizes she wants to use her disorder to help others by majoring in nutrition. long story short, (and this may sound completely stupid) but is it too late for her to commit to Cornell, but go into their nutritional school?
sorry if this sounds completely stupid … i just felt the need to ask so I can advise her accurately. I want her to attend the university with a positive head on her shoulders. again, after re-reading this…sorry if this sounds dumb!!
I am not sure about the part of your question regarding accepting cornells offer after she declined it, but what I do know is that if she was admitted to the hotel school than she has to go that school and then transfer internally once enrolled. You can’t simply decide to change before you even get to the school like you can with a major.
Yes, I do think it is now too late. I guess you could call the school, but I’m sure that once she didn’t commit by May 1st, they started offering places off the wait list. Possibly they may offer your D a spring admit, (start in January) since this is a new thing they stared but you should call and talk to them.
Even if she was allowed a space at this late time, she was accepted to the Hotel school, not the school(s) that offer nutrition majors. Sometimes internal transfers are possible, but you probably should call admissions and ask about the possibility. She could always apply for the following year. Sorry about your daughter’s problems and turmoil.
I would say pass on Cornell at this point. Your D should attend a school that Cornell accepts transfers from and transfer. She should easily get in if she has a high GPA from her transfer school, especially since she was already accepted at Cornell.
@Proudmama299 probably too late… we already enrolled in our first semester courses at cornell
