Second Thoughts on FAFSA and CSS Profile Submission

Hello. I am having second thoughts on submitting to all applied to schools the FAFSA and CSS Profile. Working with our numbers as a parent, it's pretty clear we will not qualify for financial aid.

I thought it important to put the FAFSA and Profile in for two reasons: a) one school has offered our daughter merit and it requires them, and b) to always leave open the possibility of student loan. Too, what if suddenly our situation changes given the economy.

On the other hand, I hear schools are not as need blind this year due to the economy. Are they peeking a little? This entire college application process seems tilted for all in an uncomfortable way, and I feel for all the applicants this year.

Do you think it may be better not to proceed to submit to all schools, and just do the one which has offered merit and requires it? She's hoping to get into our state university, but we won't know until past FA deadlines. Thanks a lot.

Some colleges have a policy of not offering institutional aid in future years for those who did not apply for financial aid freshmen year.
