Everyone is always asking how to get the top jobs in ibanking, sales and trading, equities, etc., but we all know that statistically, getting those jobs is extremely difficult. What does everyone else with an undergrad business degree or a liberal arts degree who wants to spend a few years working in business (i know...its such a broad term) before going for their MBA do? I ask, because as an undergrad at a top 15 school according to US News, that is one of the least recruited from for business/finance related jobs, I'm worried about my options when I graduate even though I have a 3.8 at a great institution.

Do you just end up working in the finance/business unit of ABC Co., and hope your work experience and undergrad sucess will help you land a better job/admission to a good MBA program in the future? Where are the oppurtunities for those that don't get hired by some bulge-bracket firm?

Thanks for any help. I just completed my freshman year and I'm already extremely frustrated about my oppurtunities for the future. I've thought about transferring, but the chances of being accepted into the sort of undergrad business school or top Ivy that the best firms recruit at is extremely hard. I'll most likely end up staying where I am right now, and want to know what my options are.
