you can write about different activities though. the activity on teh short answer need not be the same as the expanded one.</p>
<p>write about one in the short space, and then write about what you want for the essay. they don't necessarily have to be about the same thing, but if they are, make it good.</p>
<p>I chose one activity to write about, wrote "Please see attatched essay" in the CA short answer space, and then proceeded to write the lengthier version for the Yale supplement. Not writing the SA didn't affect me at all...</p>

<p>If you can scribble out a nice paragraph for the Common App in addition to the long essay, though, it couldn't hurt. I did what alyssa said, took the opportunity to write not only about my favourite activity, but my second favourite as well.</p>
