Second Year

Hi everyone, so my general question is: what should I do in my second year of college in order to make it into a prestigious T10 law school? I have a 4.0 GPA and look forward to maintaining it, but that is not my concern at the moment. I have some general ideas, such as taking a part in some organizations, and looking for an internship in the summer. However, I realize that I really don’t know when to start studying for the LSAT. When exactly is a good time to begin, and how does one balance practicing the LSAT on top of working a summer internship? Or is it better to practice and take the LSAT during the time people may decide to take a year off for work experience? Furthermore, will classes help me or will they be a waste of time? (I’m better at self studying, but I’ve also heard that it’s good to take classes to understand the strategies and then develop the skills through practice in the form of books.)

Also, does UT Austin hurt my chances of getting into a T10 law school, or not? Although I can transfer, I am contemplating on staying at UT Austin in order to sit on a easier GPA. I think it’d be much harder to get a good GPA at a more prestigious university.

Continue to earn A’s, lotsa of 'em.

Any EC will work. Just get involved in something that piques your interest.

Professional schools prefer work experience, all other things being equal (and they never are), so I recommend taking the LSAT after you graduate. That way you can continue to ace your coursework.

UT is an excellent Uni and would not hinder you from admission to any LS in the country
