Can someone tell me the general timeline for when secondaries start rolling in? My status says "AMCAS Processing is Complete." Is that the same as being AMCAS verified? I'm currently taking a course and don't think I have much time as it is without secondaries.

So basically, I want to know:
1. when do schools actually receive the applications and start reviewing primaries? (If it's relevant, it says my letter of recommendation has not yet been received by AMCAS because my school's committee didn't send it yet).
2. how many secondaries will be sent during July (because this is when I'm busy with school)?

Don’t forget to check the schools’ individual websites to check; sometimes they post secondaries there and don’t tell anybody for a couple months. Yale, Hopkins, and Baylor come to mind.

wow a question from someone actually applying! (and not a HS kid)

yes when you look at the pdf of your amcas it should have the AMCAS letter grade next to each of your classes and your GPAs calculated in the little table

receive: june 24th
start reviewing: not until you are complete (secondaries and LORs are in)

this is irrelevant to when they send you the secondary but you won’t be ocmplete until your committee letter is received

this depends on which schools you apply to…some will even start sending them right after june 24th. i submitted my primary mid-july and a few schools sent me secondaries before i was even verified…including columbia which sent it to me the day after i submitted!

if you want to get started on drafting essays ASAP you can find the questions from last year for every single school on SDN…use them with caution because they do rarely change. there r many questions that show up over and over so it’s best to tackle those first.

also remember that you should aim to turn around secondaries within two weeks after receiving them. if it’s not too late now i would strongly suggest you not take a class during the summer you are applying to med school!
