Secret Societies?

actually, Chancery isn't Cornell oldest secret society, sphinx head is. My mistake. I really don't know anything about Chancery.

just some random person

yeah i read that cornell used to have a ton of other secret societies but they dies out long ago and sh and q&d are the only real ones left.

how do you know I didn't start a secret society last year? Oh yeah, that's right, because it'd be a secret.

What a resume booster, though.

Bah. I interviewed a kid from Q&D earlier this year. He was worthless. I asked him point blank what his paper was on in Ehrenberg's class and he stuttered and stammered for five minutes. Then I asked him a softball stats question anybody with half a brain would be able to answer, and he bombed on that too.

It was funny though, as I led him on to believe as I was in Q&D by name dropping a bunch of names.

As with a lot of things, it can get you the interview. But it can't get you the job.

Of course, I know a lot of VERY impressive kids who were in one of the two. I would say probably about half of the kids tapped are actually deserving in that they represent the top 5% of the graduating class from a well-rounded perspective (academics, extra-curriculars, leadership, character and personality).
