this was sent to all of their alumni interviewers this past december - right before they started reading our apps for the class of '13...

I thought D always said that they didn't have "regional officers" or anything, but clearly they do.

very interesting...

What exactly are you saying?

oh nothing bad - don’t worry. I just thought it was interesting to hear the Dean’s perspective on exactly what the role of alumni interviewers is, and the fact that they do split the country into regions for admissions purposes. i felt like I was reading a “secret memo” from the adm. office.

Uhhh…I don’t think it was a secret. An admissions officer and my interviewer told me the country is split into regions.

Yeah, I think that is how most of those type schools do admissions so they can get a good mix from around the nation and then internationally.

theres a list on the dartmouth website of regional admissions officers

That’s an interesting way to split up the country…I’ve mostly seen the splits along vertical lines.

Nothing new, Dartmouth has had regional admissions officers as long as I can remember. The Dartmouth admissions rep that comes to your high school is most likely your regional admissions rep.

I have personally posted the link for regional reps a number of times over the years.

[Admissions Office Staff](http://www.dartmouth.edu/~interviewers/admissions_info/reg_contact.html)

I found out that they may have regional reps who are the ones who speak at your high school, but they don’t necessarily read your applications.

That’s exactly how it works.
